smart text
Wouldn't it be great if everything you wrote automatically came with a (dynamic) comprehension test? ...if the author didn't even have to (explicitly) write the test, but it got automatically generated by "AI", with the help of semantic tags, with pieces of text being linked to logical statements?

This way, I would never need to read past a section that I didn't understand.

The author of the paragraph would really like:
A) A great tasting pizza
B) Better AI in computer games
C) Automatically generated summaries
D) Words with dynamic logical meaning

regarding (C), I know of several people who claim to have decent results with this.

By (D), do you mean something semantic-webbish?

(D) was the nonsense phrase using words in the paragraph to throw off people not really paying attention.

the word "word" was not in the paragraph.

The algorithm obviously needs work. It also seems to have an obsession with pizza.

E) a revival of the programmed learning fad, which produced some of the most annoying textbooks known to man?

Thanks for the ref.

The good thing about interactive (electronic) media is that a student would only need to see these questions when they want to.

A conscientious reader would only get a question (or restatement in different words / examples / etc) when they felt insecure about their grasp of the knowledge that has been presented.
