12:41p - where to post stuff: LJ vs Twitter vs Facebook
Sometimes it's non-trivial to decide where to post something.
My LJ, Twitter, Facebook have very different audiences (all numbers are guesswork):
* LJ Public: mostly North America. Google will index what I write. Big audience (40-150). High response rate. * LJ Friends-only: mostly North America. I can post private stuff. Medium-big audience (30-100). High response rate. * Twitter: also mostly North America, but a small audience (5-20?). Low response rate (80-90% of my undirected Tweets get zero responses). * FB status: possibly has the biggest audience; certainly the most diverse (very international, and includes people I know from all periods and walks of life). Also, I'm friends with professors, whose opinion of me is important for my career. Medium-high response rate. * FB Wall: haven't used it much.
I choose where to post based on privacy-level, casualness and length, based on the information above.
